Best Wedding Photos of 2025 | Wedding Photographer Valdur Rosenvald
I'm sitting at my home office desk, going through the wedding photos one last time before handing them over to the couple.
867 successful shots, even more than usual — beautiful, blog-worthy material. A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, it should be the best experience for the couple. The entire process has to be thought through.
I keep scrolling through the photos, but suddenly a disturbing thought hits me. Where's the big group photo? We took it at the wedding, but it's not here now. I try to find it, and I can feel my throat going dry. I can't find several group photos.
I'm anxious, but thankfully I have backups on other drives. I quickly connect the backup hard drives — and the photos aren't there either. The harsh reality sets in.
“My biggest fear has come true.”
My biggest fear has come true. I've lost wedding photos.
I looked into what happened to some of the wedding photos. It turned out that the Canon camera creates new folders for photos in certain situations when switching memory cards. Since the main folder had so many photos, I didn't notice while copying that some of the photos were in a different folder.
How did the couple react? They were VERY disappointed. The bride wrote that "Losing wedding photos is probably the biggest mistake a photographer can make" — and I completely agree with her.
I thought I had done so much to prevent mistakes like this — saving to two memory cards, multiple backups in different locations, secure cloud backup online...
I never want to make this mistake again. A new item went on my wedding checklist: "Check that the last photo number matches the total file count." If I do this, I can be confident going forward that all photos have been copied from the camera.
In moments like these, I realize how much responsibility I actually carry as a wedding photographer. Through failure comes experience that makes me better. I'm learning from this.
...but.
I realize that even though there are many risks, I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity. To capture the most special days of people's lives.
Here are the best moments of 2025. Enjoy!
