Annika and Dimitri’s story began in a small village in France, where Annika had arrived as an exchange student — without speaking a word of French and stepping into a world that was entirely new and unfamiliar to her. She could not have imagined that something far greater than just a school year spent abroad awaited her there.

The first years passed in what often felt like an endless long-distance relationship. They lived in different European countries, and every meeting required careful planning, patience, and determination. Countless hours were spent on planes, trains, and even BlablaCar rides — all for the chance to see each other, even if only for a moment, and to be together again.
