Elerin & Karl | A heartfelt wedding day in Käsmu

Karl and Elerin had been in the same church since the summer of 2018 but only got to really know each other a few years later when Karl became close friends with Elerin’s brother-in-law. Naturally, the four came to spend more and more time together, growing closer and becoming deeply integrated with one another’s lives.

A couple of months later Elerin asked Karl out for a walk, to get a better idea of their relationship. Elerin had had feelings for Karl for a while already, but Karl was sending mixed signals. At that time, his main focus had been getting out of a very long depression and seeking the meaning of life. Yet, there was also room to give this relationship a shot.

This was the first serious romantic situation for both of them since neither had been in a relationship before. The first step was to intentionally spend more time alone together and to really get to know one another. After about a month and a half, it was time for the first official date, and after some consideration and evaluation of the situation, they decided to start a relationship. For Karl and Elerin, their story didn’t start with great feelings but their romance began rationally and with assurance, that God was behind it.

Thus began an arduous year, full of good times, but also great challenges. In many cases, it turned out that Karl’s and Elerin’s visions and expectations for the relationship did not match at all. And finally, they came to a point where they decided to take a break - a week to think and decide what both of them want and what to do about it. Things couldn’t go on this way.

That time, however, only made it certain that neither wanted to end the relationship. So much had already been built up and they shared all their closest friends. They set a new goal to come closer to one another in expectations and enjoy their time together and feel joy from one another.

This shift in their mindset turned the relationship around and from there on out, things went uphill. They needed a lot of honesty on this road to better understand one another. From there, feelings began to bloom, they fell in love, and soon, Karl asked Elerin to become his wife.

Karl and Elerin:

Marriage had been a goal of ours since the very beginning. We believe that this should always be considered when beginning a relationship.

We’re so thankful to so many of our friends and family, who aided us in putting the whole wedding together, making the planning process actually a very positive and exciting experience. We are also incredibly pleased about how our wedding turned out, and are grateful for everyone who helped or showed up! What a wonderful memory!

By now we’ve been married for over four months and are enjoying every minute of it. Marriage truly is a special and meaningful bond, and we have so much joy from growing together!
