Häli & Kristjan | Wedding on a Private Island, Viirelaid

It was the 27th of October in 2012. During a party at Rannapaargu, Häli was suddenly approached by Kristjan’s friend Marko, who uttered the fateful sentence: “Häli, Kristjan likes you!”, and then walked off immediately, leaving Häli and Kristjan awkwardly standing there in the middle of the dance floor. Later it turned out that Kristjan himself hadn’t had any clue that Marko would do something like that. And that Häli herself had already had eyes for Kristjan was a secret to all…

“…Marko uttered the fateful sentence: “Häli, Kristjan likes you!”…”

Marko had just thought that Häli and Kristjan would be good together and thus proceeded to make it happen. And he had been right because the sparks began flying almost immediately. To this day, Häli and Kristjan occasionally thank Marko for making the introduction, or if not, then the latter sometimes takes it upon himself to remind the pair how proud he is of himself for bringing them together.

After the first mating dance, Häli and Kristjan kept in contact. Häli lived and worked in Tallinn at the time. Kristjan was working on construction in Finland, returning every few months to visit Hiiumaa, where he had inherited and began renovating his childhood home.

Häli and Kristjan have always felt united in their love for their home island, Hiiumaa. From the very near beginning, it was clear that both of them desired to one day start a home and raise a family there. And as life goes, circumstances quite soon led Häli back to Hiiumaa. Kristjan kept working in Finland for a few more years but by the time of the birth of their first child, he, too, rooted himself there permanently.
