Best Wedding Photos of 2023
I'm standing in the kitchen at my home and I have a knife in my hand. But I don't plan to start cooking. Instead, with a kitchen knife, I carefully cut out pieces, chip by chip, from a long piece of wood that will become a samurai sword.
This is not my first woodworking project, and I understand the importance of achieving a perfectly smooth and sharp sword, just like the real thing. The handle is black and has notches cut in the perfect size to securely hold the sword. With this new sword, my invisible enemies will be annihilated.
My mother looks at me, her pre-teen son, from the living room door, but she sighs. The entire kitchen floor is full of wood chips. Mom opens her mouth but says nothing. Because he sees that I am fully focused on my art. Chips can be cleaned later.
Twenty years later, I am invited to photograph dozens of weddings every year. At these wedding, I'm once again that excited boy trying to find perfection in what I do.
Sometimes you can't find it and it's hard. But sometimes I seem to get closer again.
