Best Wedding Photos of 2021

It's the wedding season of 2021. A total of 27 wonderful weddings and many special moments I was honored to capture. I want to share them with you. But on top of all that, something else happened this year…

Right at the peak of the wedding season, on July 14th I was the photographer in an nice international wedding in Sangaste Castle.

Everything might have seemed normal, but actually this time something is different... Because there is a very high probability that my son would be born on that day. Johanna started having weak pains already at night. She was unsure whether she should allow me to go to the wedding or not. I thought I might as well go anyway, especially given that Sangaste is only an hour away…

Our friend Anette came to help look after our first child, Sarah, at home. It was midday. I took portraits of the bride and groom, and Johanna started putting Sarah to sleep at home. It went quite well at first and she fell asleep easily. But about 30 minutes later he woke up. Then things started to get out of hand. When Sarah woke up, she was very upset, nothing was right, she couldn't sleep and she was screaming. Johanna couldn't get her to sleep anymore and the labor pains were too strong.

At 14:10 I told the bride and groom that “I have some news”.

At 14:10 I told the bride and groom that "I have some news". The bride asked: "Good or bad?". I said that it depends. I explained that I can stay for a while, but it is possible that I have to go to Tartu to help my wife with the birth. The reality was that Mait Jüriado, the previously agreed backup photographer, was already on his way to Sangaste. I took pictures until Mait arrived and drove towards Tartu.

At 16:02 my nurse called and said that there is not much left until the birth, but I should arrive as soon as I can.

I drove fast. I suddenly reached the roadworks site and a small unpleasant electronic street sign showed a waiting time of 4 minutes.

Despite this time, one SUV turned out of the waiting line and drove off. I decided to go because four minutes seemed like an eternity in this situation. It turned out that the SUV was actually a road worker who stopped. I drove on by myself and met a very long line of cars coming from the opposite direction. I maneuvered myself out between the cars on the unfinished road.

I raced forward and reached the hospital. And not too long later, at 17:57, our second child was born. I said "Noah". The child was named.

Johanna was extremely strong and she looked so good, as if nothing much had happened. A new life had begun. Both for us and for Noah.
