Roosa & Hendrik | Love like in the movies. Romantic wedding in Helsinki, Finland

Thinking back to his life before meeting Roosa, Hendrik chuckles over the memories of living in a two-bedroom apartment of a nine-story panel house in Annelinn, Tartu, with his two roommates.

Hendrik still recalls clearly how he and the guys would gather in front of the TV to watch the next episode of Estonia's version of "America´s Next Top Model", called "Estonia's Top Model".

"I remember so well, how the gorgeous models in the show seemed like such glamorous stars, looking at them felt like standing behind a glass wall, admiring the luxury cars that you can never afford anyway, because who in the world are you? Being unemployed, living somewhere in some tiny cheap apartment with my two roommates. And it's not like I had any better prospects at that time anyway, the life of the stars seemed so different from the reality the three of us knew and planned in that two-room apartment. In addition, all three of us were single!"

But the dream wasn't as far away as one might think. New winds started blowing in Hendrik's life and soon he himself became the first Estonian man to be cast into "Estonia's Top Model" and make it to the finale!

It didn't take long for Hendrik to have a real history with "Estonia's Top Model" and adding to that, his career extended even abroad, where Hendrik became one of the producers of "Finland's Top Model". At the same time, Roosa Marjaana had decided to go on the show. Roosa had just moved from a quiet Mid-Finland to Helsinki and appearing on a show like that was something completely out of the ordinary for her calm and composed nature. That's where the two actually met.

Yes, exactly like that is how Hendrik and Roosa met. It was a harsh winter and the young pair fell in love from first sight on the set; even though it might seem cliche, that is indeed how it happened.

Straight away, Roosa noticed Hendrik's long curly hair. And at the same time, one of her close friends pointed out Hendrik's very frequent glances in Roosa's direction especially. That, naturally, made Roosa lightly laugh and blush.

For bigger TV shoots like this, there could often be more than thirty people working at once. But despite being incredibly busy, the two already found time to talk after just a few days of shooting the show. The first conversations were polite and reserved, sparking still enough interest in Roosa to gather her courage and ask the filming crew for Hendrik's private phone number.

Hendrik was thoroughly impressed by such a daring venture and that prompted him to take her for a walk in Tallinn's Old Town, where he already met her with a bouquet. The first date ended without a kiss, but that seemed to only grow their interest in eachother.

That, though, was quickly followed by a period of trials for their relationship. After the filming was done, Hendrik instead took on moving to Denmark to continue his life there. Meanwhile, Roosa had decided to tie her life more to the world of fashion.

And so Hendrik lived in a romantic small town in the middle of Denmark and Roosa in Helsinki, flying sometimes to Denmark for Hendrik, and another time to Fashion Week in Italy, to earn her living as a model.

Roosa remembers well, feeling like they lived in two different worlds. That's why, after only two months since their meeting, Hendrik proposed making their relationship official. Hendrik offered the idea of writing each other something meaningful for the occasion.

On the table stood a glass bottle with folded sheets of old papyrus-like paper. The two looked deep into each other's eyes, writing down the words.

The bottle was sealed then and there, to be someday opened "when the right time came".

Two years later. It's the morning of Valentine's Day 2019. Hendrik and Roosa begin their usual vacation day in the Canary Islands, riding around the isle together and getting to know the local life. Roosa doesn't know that Hendrik had secretly made new plans for the evening. He has secretly packed that same glass bottle with the letters they wrote to each other years ago.

"It's the evening and we're about to get back to the hotel. I stop the car in front of it, asking Roosa to be patient and wait in the car without asking questions. I ran to the hotel administrator, where Pedro with a mustache hands me a picnic basket, that I quickly place in the back of the car, so the ride can begin.

When we reached the place, I grabbed Roosa's hand and took her to the foot of the mountain, above which a marvelous sunset reached over the ocean. It was like those same warm tones had sung in a chorus how much I love Roosa! And right then and there I fell on one knee before her, taking out the hidden glass bottle from the basket, and asking Roosa to carefully open the letter I had written.

Out loud it read: “WILL YOU MARRY ME?""

"I got engaged to a woman I'd first met on the set of a TV show I'd been gawking at when I was young. It had never been a goal or an obsession of how to become happy."

"Our love story is like that which you see in the movies. Not only the part of finding one another but even more the part that's still ahead. What else could you possibly want from life than the chance to share your life and responsibility with someone who is just like you, but at the same time isn't!"

Love,

Hendrik and Roosa.
