Grete & Oliver | A Wedding in Southern-Estonia, Vehendi

“I first saw Oliver at the newcomers’ party at Nõo Highschool, to where Oliver had come straight from ear surgery – with a bandaged head and full of painkillers. But he still came because he really wanted to see his future classmates.”

“We went to the same classes the whole of high school, but only noticed each other in 12th grade around the New Year at a classmate’s birthday party. Where Oliver threw a snowball at me. Inside. I got angry, threw one back, and thus followed a fateful snowball fight. Since it was a school holiday we continued talking on MSN. For about a month we kept going on walks around Nõo and almost always had a small snowball fight. And when Oliver then asked if I would like to start dating him, I pushed him into a pile of snow, and said “yes”. Now it’s been nearly 8 years since that day.”

“These have been the most awesome years of our lives! We have had our share of struggles: I was an exchange student for six months, Oliver spent a year in the army and a whole summer as a truck driver in Europe. We were inseparable in Australia for 2 years and now owning our sushi business poses its own set of challenges. But we are still in love and happy :)”

“When in Australia we already knew that we wanted to get married and do it on the date of my great-grandparents’ 50th anniversary – July 22nd, 2018. But the proposal still came as a surprise. I thought it would be in Japan looking at cherry blossoms but in reality, Oliver asked me to become his wife months before that. On the day exactly 6 years after that fateful snowball fight. Because I like surprises. It was beautiful and so us – walking along the ocean shore eating cherries.”
