Eliseta & Vallo | A Sweet Wedding in Saaremaa
Beside me stands a man who will be my excellent partner for the rest of my life. In front of others, he doesn’t usually show it but when we’re together, he has the most genuine and caring heart. When he wants, he can be the most romantic man on Earth, and then fully dedicate himself to his work again. He never gives up on the important things and I feel my future with him will be beautiful, fun, sure, and bright. There will doubtless be many different obstacles, but with this man by my side, I’m not afraid to face anything!

Her smile is as if painted by angels, and her eyes are green as junipers on a spring morning. Sometimes when I’m in a bad mood or feeling down, Seta will just come in with that smile and my day becomes so bright. Everyone says I’m lucky to have her, that she is so caring and good, keeps the house, and cooks the most delicious meals. And they are all so right, Seta is my greatest treasure.

It was the summer after middle school when I invited my best friend Liina-Mari to Saaremaa for the summer. I also had a local friend there, and together we decided to throw a girls’ night. We baked a cake, barbequed, heated the sauna, and flooded it, and then sitting by the bonfire Liina and I decided to fool around with the third friend’s iPad. When she went to visit the bathroom, we texted all kinds of drivel to all her male contacts on Facebook, and by some turn of fate, Vallo replied. It had turned into quite a conversation by the time our friend came back. She of course told on us, declaring she hadn’t actually started the chat but gave him my name and told him to send me a friend request if he is interested. And he did. A couple of days later he came to Saaremaa himself, we met up, kissed at Triigi harbor, and so our relationship began.

On the evening of July, 19th, a couple of years younger relative started randomly texting me. We casually chatted a bit about life but at some point, the conversation turned completely absurd. Then she finally told me that the one who had texted me wasn’t her but another girl, and if I wanted to continue talking to her, I could text Eliseta Talviste and do so. Since I was bored that night, I figured why not keep talking, and so I did. Very soon we met up, went for walks, and got to know one another. I fell in love at first sight. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was the one I wanted. Since July, 23rd, when we first kissed, we’ve been together and will hopefully be forever.

Everything happened so differently from what I had dreamed of as a little girl. We didn’t really have a proposal as such. Instead, the fateful moment came when I told Vallo that if we’re to ever have kids, I’d want to have the same last name as them, impatient as I am. To my great surprise, Vallo replied “Okay.”. It later turned out that he was going to propose in a month anyway. Oops!
Actually, we did have a beautiful pre-engagement moment, too. Exactly a year (and one day) before our wedding, when living in Spain, a friend of mine got married in Estonia, and “threw” her wedding bouquet to me. Having planned it with Vallo, it happened that on her wedding day, the day before our 8th anniversary, we had a video call with that friend, and at one point she started talking about throwing the bouquet. And suddenly I was holding an identical bouquet. We started talking about the guest list already in Spain, didn’t even need a ring!

The engagement happened rather unconventionally for us because Seta was the main initiator there. One pleasant April day we were driving to a hiking trail and were discussing the topic of marriage. One thing led to another and then we just agreed that July, 23rd, would be the day. I had already planned to propose in May, but for better or for worse it came like that.
After long years together, the wedding planning went quickly. Looking back we still occasionally reminisce about how crazy it all was but yet how right and what a perfect time it turned out to be. In three months we got everything organized, and a wonderful wedding was held, just as we had dreamed. And right back in Triigi harbor where it all began. Now, a bit less than a year later, we finally have the same last name, and within the next month, so will our son. Everything is going exactly as it should!
