Eliisa & Klaus | A country style hippie wedding at Raudsilla Holiday Center

In some ways, our story is very classic – an earthshattering high school romance that grew into a strong and wonderful love.

On the other hand, though, getting married happened in a bizarrely unusual way for us – and that's what makes our story so special.

Klaus-Peeter was a year older cool guy from another class, everyone called him Pete for some reason. I started calling him Klaus from day one because I found it suited his wild nature so perfectly. Once during late autumn, we were both pulled into directing a concert, and thanks to that we started talking. Klaus offered me a ride to the rehearsals, so we became close quite fast, realizing that we really liked each other.

We started dating on that winter day right before Christmas. December, 21st is still our date. Those were wonderful one and a half years where we did everything together, building a truly strong foundation for our relationship.

I've never cried so much in my life before (and trust me, I cry a lot!) than that last week of May in 2014 when Klaus flew to the USA to sell books. 3 months of unseen and unknown. Videocalls were permitted only on Sundays at a certain time and this whole time felt endlessly long. I graduated high school in June and decided to take a year off to also travel and get a better understanding of my life and goals. And so life went, that just as Klaus got back from the USA, I packed my bags and took off for half a year to live in Thailand. And since Klaus, too, had gotten a taste of the globe-trotter life, he went on to work in Australia. We broke up because it seemed that there was no life together for us anymore.

It was tough, but we realized that if we were to ever meet again in the future, we would know if that "something" was still there. But that meeting came earlier than expected. Klaus gave me the greatest birthday present of my life when in March he came to visit me in Thailand for my birthday. There we spent the most amazing week of Paradise in the entire course of our relationship.

And then, of course, we knew that that "something" was still there and it would not fade.

But the travels continued and keeping up communication and time together was hard. We disappeared from each others' lives for nearly another six months.

But then, autumn was coming again and I had gotten accepted to the High Artschool of Tartu. Back then I lived a summer with my friends in Supilinn but was looking for a home in September. It was the afternoon of July, 26th when Klaus rode up to the house on Melon street and found me sitting on the window sill – like I always did those days – and offered to begin living together in a student community, starting autumn. And from there on, though slowly at first, our story went on together. Two and a half years later, on the morning of January, 17th, 2017 Klaus-Peeter, who had just last night returned from a trip to Tenerife, brought me coffee in bed and asked for my hand in marriage right then and there. Something about looking at cactus blossoms in Tenerife had told him that now was the time.

And indeed it was. I told him "YES" without hesitation. I had played that scenario through in my head so many times before.

We were supposed to already get married on August, 1st, 2018, but we didn't manage to gather the necessary funds that we had planned for our grandiose party. So we postponed it by a year. Thankfully, due to that, our wedding in 2019 was also attended by our first daughter Melissa Meele. We are so thankful to Valdur for the photo "Baby on Bearmoss" that is proudly decorating our living room wall.
